James L. Berk brings more than twenty-five years of experience to First Media, with extensive creative, production, and management expertise in television, online media, and music.
Beginning his career at Multimedia Entertainment in New York, Mr. Berk opened new markets for the company's motion picture and television division and successfully developed new revenue streams for its Emmy Award-winning programming, including Donahue, Young Peoples’ Specials, Country Comes Alive, and Music City USA. As President of First Media, Mr. Berk has played a leading role in the ongoing evolution of music delivery via new technology platforms, and has launched some of the music industry's most influential content and e-commerce operations.
A veteran of the recording industry, Mr. Berk is a member of the National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences and the Country Music Association. As a songwriter, his music has been featured at the prestigous ASCAP Pop Songwriters’ Workshop in New York and on the ABC-TV daytime drama, One Life To Live. Mr. Berk holds a B.A. from Yale University and M.B.A. from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
